Court Support
DVNQ provides a Court Support Service for women seeking Domestic Violence Protection Orders, and escaping violent situations. The role of the DVNQ Court Support Worker is to provide women with support, information, and referral to appropriate agencies if necessary.
Our aim is:
- To provide court support at the Magistrates Courts in Townsville and Mt Isa;
- To provide support at the court immediately before and during mentions and hearings of protection order applications for victims where possible;
- To appropriately refer victims to relevant services;
- To conduct crisis counselling at the court if necessary;
- To provide information about Protection Orders, the court process, application of Protection Orders and access to relevant resources;
- To help victims to access safety in the Magistrates Court Building.
